I read this article today on Forbes that discusses the anxieties job hunters feel and experience when being involuntarily out of work.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/womensmedia/2012/06/12/bouncing-back-from-job-loss-the-7-habits-of-highly-effective-job-hunters/

The article is very well written and clearly the author, like me, has had to deal with people in this situation. But I can promise that what Margie Warrell advocates is absolutely true. I have summarized the 7 points below but I urge you to read the article as it may help you understand and assist those that find themselves in this position.  I especially feel points 6 and 7 are key!! So don’t sit on the couch with the remote and a bag of chips – opportunities can be found in the strangest of places!

  1. Stay Future Focused
  2. Don’t let your job status define you
  3. Prioritize self care
  4. Surround yourself with positive people
  5. Tap your Network
  6. Treat finding a job as a job
  7. Extend Kindness
