The Cayman recruitment market slowed considerably in the final quarter of 2011 as firms everywhere no doubt waited to see whether the problems in Greece and Europe were going to erupt into another full-blown financial crisis. The bail-out that was agreed late last year clearly hasn’t provided any lasting solutions but it did give financial markets some minor respite and this seemed to filter through and inject a degree of confidence for Q1 of this year and we have noticed some appetite amongst firms to start hiring again, most notably in litigation and funds/corporate although banking & finance continues to remain quiet. The market remains vacancy-driven rather than candidate-driven and competition remains tough for those vacancies that are coming up at the major offshore firms.
If you have a friend who is interested in making a move you may be interested to know that we operate a candidate referral scheme. If we place the friend you recommend (and they pass their probation period) we’ll give you a MacBook, iPad or iPod touch, depending on the placement. Click here to read more about this program.
