Ronald Wayne.

Ronald Wayne, might be a name that doesn’t ring too many bells. However, on this day in history – April 13th 1976; Ronald sold a 10% share in Apple. For approximately US$1500.

Yes, that’s right. One of three co-founders of Apple Computer, sold his 10% stake in the company for $1500. Apparently ‘the best decision with information available at the time’. Had he retained his stake, Ronald would currently be worth almost $60 billion! Oh the powers of hindsight!

Mr Wayne instead lives on a state pension and deals in old stamps and coins to supplement his income.

If ever the adage’s ‘fortune favours the brave’ and ‘speculate to accumulate’ rang true, this must be the example to illustrate!
