Candidates should be familiar with most modern business analysis methodologies.

Employers generally looks for business/systems analysts with a good academic background (normally a Bachelor's Degree at minimum) in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or Physics. Some financial services industry experience is preferable, but not essential. A candidate must have a minimum of three years experience in a systems/business analysis role.
