Every up-to-date organization relies on information technology systems
to conduct business and operate efficiently. Many offshore financial
services firms share a similar challenge - rapid growth. Some companies
are still using systems that were designed for when they had a US$10
million dollar turnover and 20 users, even though they have grown to
US$100 million in turnover and 200 users. This has generated a need for
highly trained, dynamic professionals to help organisations implement
and maintain new information systems and technologies that can help them
keep pace with their aggressive expansion plans.
Offshore financial services companies generally look for
candidates with broad knowledge and experience in systems analysis and
IT, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as excellent
interpersonal skills. Candidates should be familiar with most modern
business analysis methodologies.
Employers generally looks for business/systems analysts with a
good academic background (normally a Bachelor's Degree at minimum) in
Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or Physics. Some financial services
industry experience is preferable, but not essential. A candidate must
have a minimum of three years experience in a systems/business analysis
role.
