Project management is quickly becoming established as a professional career path in its own right. Opportunities in project management are becoming more common in the offshore financial sector as companies outgrow their archaic systems and need to continually innovate to make their systems more efficient. Offshore financial services companies generally look for candidates with broad knowledge and experience in systems analysis and IT, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Candidates should be familiar with most modern business analysis methodologies. Employers generally looks for business/systems analysts with a good academic background (normally a Bachelor's Degree at minimum) in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or Physics. For financial services roles, some financial services industry experience is preferable, but not essential.

A candidate should have at least two years experience in a project management role as well as one or more of the following designations: PRINCE2, PMP, PMI, PMO, PMI, PMBOK, CAPM.
