Systems Administrator Jobs

Systems Administrators play a vital role in maintaining an organization's technology. They do everything from resolving problems with monitors, keyboards, printers and mice, to installing, modifying, cleaning and repairing computer hardware and software. Due to the wide range of skills required, a variety of skills and technologies fall under this umbrella. A candidate will generally be expected to be a "jack-of-all-trades". There is normally scope for involvement in a variety of ancillary projects and many employers will support further study towards additional relevant qualifications.

Most employers in the offshore jurisdictions will look for formal college or university education (IT, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics) coupled with professional certification and a wide skill set. Whilst this is not a defining rule, possessing a variety of the following qualifications will help a candidate secure his or her ideal offshore opportunity:

Certifications

Microsoft: MCP, MCSE, MCSA
UNIX: SCSA, SCNA
Cisco: CCNA. CCNP, CCDP, CCIE

Technologies
Networking: LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, SMTP, POP3, DHCP, WINS, Cisco
Security: Checkpoint FW, Nokia, McAfee, Norton, 3com
