Overview: Bermuda is most suited to single professionals or couples where both partners are qualified professionals. The very stringent immigration laws make it difficult to have a dependant and permits for non-qualified professionals are rarely granted since these positions are generally reserved for Bermudians.

Work Permits: Prior to an expat employee arriving in Bermuda, the prospective employer must apply to the government for a work permit, after first proving that no suitably qualified Bermudians are available to fill the position. The majority of permits are valid for one year and are re-applied for on an annual basis. The employer is responsible for paying the work permit fee which usually ranges from $550 - $2660 per year.
