The Channel Islands are an archipelago of islands off the coast of France in the English Channel and are Crown Dependencies of The United Kingdom.
The main islands are Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, and with the other smaller islands make up a total area of 194 sq km.
Temperate with mild damp cloudy winters and warm drier sunnier summers.
Guernsey has a population of about 65,000, and Jersey has about 90,000 people.
